Gateway to the Clearwater
Backcountry!
Pierce, Idaho
is just 32 miles and 3600' above the Clearwater
River Valley, which was the route taken by the
Lewis & Clark's Northwest Passage Expedition
almost 200 years ago. Our town lies in one of the
Northwest's most scenic areas, along Idaho's Gold
Rush Historic Byway - Highway 11. Pierce is the
location of the several historic sites including
the First Gold Strike, the First Courthouse
(still located in Pierce), and a Logging Museum.
The Logging Museum and the Courthouse are open to
the public during the summer months. (For more
information on our history, visit Pierce's
Site.)
For the Outdoor
Lovers, there are many adventures available,
including:
- 300 miles
of groomed trails, with two trail heads
originating in Pierce, for Snowmobile and
the Nordic enthusiasts.
- Bald
Mountain Ski Hill (only 8 miles from
town).
- Campbell's
Pond has good Trout fishing, with Ice
fishing usually starting in December.
- Blue
ribbon Fly-fishing.
- Trophy
white-tail Deer hunting.
- Gorgeous
scenery & wildlife for enjoying or
photographing.
Also, during
the first weekend in August, the town celebrates
its beginnings with '1860 Days' - A Family
Affair. Activities include an ATV Fun Run, Muzzle
Loader Shoot, Parade, Art & Crafts Fair, BBQ
& Ice Cream Social in the Park, and much
more. Pierce has something for everyone. Quiet
and peaceful, the frogs, crickets and coyotes may
be the only noise you hear all night.
